Episode 19: We R Allies with Guests Jesse Burwell & Winslow Forbes
To begin our new series - We R Allies - we welcome back retired Durham Police Executives Jesse Burwell and Winslow Forbes. They join our hosts to discuss the “defunding the police” episode we recorded with them, and any feedback they received after it was released; as well as other topics including the capitol police incident at the beginning of January and the release of the audio/interview with Jacob Blake in Wisconsin. The series title counters the belief that Black officers are often not seen as allies in Black communities. We R Allies is our way of saying we see our community, we know our community and we are the community. We will discuss various topics and offer perspectives through the lens of Black officers.
